The FNFC photo contest is now closed!
Thank you to everyone who submitted their beautiful First Nations environmental photos. Winners will be announced soon, and the selected photos will be featured in our 2026 calendar.
What does: “Advancing Environmental Sustainability” mean?
Promoting sustainable fisheries and aquatic ecosystems through climate adaptation, habitat restoration, and enhanced resource management.
- Examples of key coastal marine habitat types or restoration of lost habitats
- Coastal protection, and water quality
- Natural resource management in the works or opportunities
Twelve winning photos will be chosen, and one GRAND PRIZE winner will be selected from among the 12 photos.
The grand prize photo will be featured on the calendar’s cover, and the photographer will receive a professional gallery wrapped canvas of their image and a mystery prize kit courtesy of London Drugs. (valued up to $200 Canadian dollars). Photographers who submit the other 11 winning photos will each receive a FNFC swag bag.

We hope to receive entries from as many different regions across the province as possible, to feature our province’s wide range of landscapes, fish species, aquatic resources, fishing methods, and activities as possible.
Contest Eligibility
& Helpful Tips
Some suggestions for photos: traditional First Nations fishing/harvesting practices, fishing or habitat areas, First Nations sustainable aquaculture activities, youth fisheries including digging for shellfish, engagement and learning, fisheries activities that are specific to your region, technical surveys/assessments/monitoring or scientific research activities, traditional food preparation and preservation methods using fish or aquatic resources, community feasts, cultural activities, or any other fisheries-related scenes you can think of!
- Your photo must be taken on or after January 1, 2025
- You're limited to one photo entry – so pick your favourite
- Your photo should NOT include a recognizable face of a person, including yourself
- Photos must be a JPEG file no larger than 2MB and at least 1600 pixels wide (for horizontal images)
